Welcome to HS Photos.
Hans started taking photos back in the '60s in Sydney where he grew up. Travelling around the state both with his employment and for pleasure provided plenty of photo opportunities. These provided the basis for his love of photography that still exists today. In the '70s he obtained his first SLR - a Minolta SRT100 - and this taught him the basics of exposure, being a totally manual camera without a motor drive.
His interests developed further with the use of special effects filters which these days are mainly done with software manipulation. Hans has no formal qualification in photography and is self taught through practise and book learning.
He moved to Cairns in the mid 80's and enjoys the climate and lifestyle that the area affords. Hans moved into the digital age in the late 90's with the purchase of his first digital camera, but his photographic interest was really accelerated with the Canon EOS350, he has since progressed to the 50D and spends a considerable time taking pictures in and around Cairns, including the Tablelands and the Daintree area. He has had works displayed in the Cairns Art Gallery and The Tanks Art Centre as part of themed exhibitions for the Cairns Photographic Society of which he is an active member. His main interests in photography are macro, landscape, flora and fauna.
